House Bill Introduced Seeking to Lower the Amount of Requisite Experience to Apply for MHIC License
January 18, 2013
On January 18, 2013, Maryland Delegate Michael J. Hough of Frederick and Washington Counties introduced House Bill 159 (“HB159”), which seeks to reduce the number of years of experience that an applicant would need to seek a contractor’s license from the Maryland Home Improvement Commission (“MHIC”). Currently, an applicant needs at least two years of experience before he/she is eligible to apply for an MHIC license. The changes proposed by HB159 would cut that in half, so that an applicant would only need one year of experience before he/she could apply for a license.
