According to an article in the Daily Record written by Alexander Pyles on August 19, 2013, Towson University economist and director of the Regional Economic Studies Institute, Daraius Irani, said he expects construction jobs to drive growth in Maryland employment over the next few years. In a presentation at the annual conference of the Maryland Association of Counties, Irani said he predicts employment to grow across all Maryland industries by 2.4 percent in 2014 and 2.8 percent year-over-year in 2015. If Irani’s predictions prove to be correct, this would put job growth at its highest rate since before employers started cutting costs back in 2009.
